Compatible Use Implementation
The purpose of this project is to begin implementation of several recommended actions contained in the Pinal County Joint Land Use Study (JLUS), completed in 2021. This Compatible Use (CU) Implementation Project, initiated in January 2022, addresses land use compatibility planning around the four Arizona Army National Guard (AZARNG) sites in Pinal County: Rittenhouse Training Site, Florence Military Reservation, Picacho Peak Stagefield, and Silverbell Army Heliport.
Joint Land Use Study
The JLUS is a planning tool developed through a collaborative process that establishes and encourages synergetic relationships among all area stakeholders; these relationships facilitate a team approach to the identification, prevention, and reduction of encroachment issues associated with current and future military missions and local community growth. The JLUS includes an assessment of compatibility issues around the four AZARNG sites in Pinal County: Rittenhouse Training Site, Florence Military Reservation, Picacho Peak Stagefield, and Silverbell Army Heliport. The JLUS culminates in an Implementation Plan that presents more than 120 recommendations for addressing identified compatibility issues.
